Electrical Panel Upgrades & Service Upgrades in Myrtle Beach, SC
Your panel is the backbone of everything electrical in the building. If it is undersized, obsolete, or one of the brands with a known failure history, it limits what you can add and, in the worst cases, it is a fire risk. We replace and upgrade residential and commercial panels from 100A through 400A and beyond, including full service upgrades with the utility.
The most common reason homeowners call us is capacity. A generator, a Level 2 EV charger, a heat pump, a hot tub or a workshop subpanel all need space and amperage that a full 100A panel simply does not have. Rather than stacking tandem breakers into an already loaded panel, we run the load calculation and size the service correctly for what you plan to add over the next decade.
The second reason is safety. Federal Pacific Stab-Lok, Zinsco and Sylvania panels have documented breaker failure problems, and many older Grand Strand homes still have them. Coastal humidity and salt also corrode bus bars and breaker contacts, which shows up as heat discoloration, a burning smell, or breakers that trip without a load to explain it. Those are replace-now conditions, not watch-and-wait.
A panel change is a coordinated job: permit, utility disconnect and reconnect, new panel and breakers, grounding and bonding brought up to current code, surge protection if you want it, and a clearly labeled directory when we are done. Most residential swaps are a single day with the power off for part of it.

Common Questions
How do I know if my electrical panel needs upgrading?
Common signs: breakers that trip repeatedly, a 100A or smaller service in a home with modern loads, no open breaker spaces, scorch marks or a burning smell at the panel, a fuse box instead of breakers, or a Federal Pacific, Zinsco or Sylvania panel.
Do I need a panel upgrade before installing a generator or EV charger?
Often, yes. Both need physical space and available amperage. We check this during the assessment — sometimes a load-management device avoids a full upgrade, and we will tell you when that is the cheaper correct answer.
How long will my power be off during a panel upgrade?
Typically four to eight hours for a residential replacement, scheduled with the utility so you know the window in advance.
